Ama Fest was such a good reminder of why I love a well curated music event. Though for a split second I thought we weren't gonna make it. Two friends bailed last minute but Tracy and I were still keen and two of her friends joined us instead. Ama Fest was great with Amapiano artists from South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria and the UK all bringing that warm log drum heavy sound to the UK crowd. The energy felt close and intentional rather than sprawling, and being around artists and organisers who are passionate about the genre and building its presence here is always inspiring. It is different from the big festival buzz, it feels more connected.
Later in the month I headed to Oxford to see Thea, an old friend, which was just what I needed. Proper catch up time, wandering through old streets, long conversations that pick up exactly where they left off. It has been years since we have seen eachother but it was so good to catch up. And then back for Acoustickle's Indian Summer, which had that golden hour glow and community feel. Great line up as per for the event and I was so glad I stopped by even after the long drive back from Oxford.
