The leaving do felt bigger than I expected and I was surprised by how many people showed and from further afield. It was a great vibe and the theme was safari! I had the party at The Carousel which had become more than just a place to work, it was routine, familiarity, friends I saw every day. In a year where so much has shifted, there was something steady about turning up, making coffee, small conversations across the counter. I had people join from all sorts of other places too from the bat group, old jobs and of course from just being in Nottingham.
Walking away from that rhythm feels symbolic. Another chapter closing, even if it is a quiet one. At the same time it feels necessary. I can sense life stretching in a different direction. Malawi calling, DJing building momentum, photography growing, the BCT work evolving. You cannot hold onto everything at once. Leaving Do is not dramatic, just part of the reshuffle. Though there is definitely a bit of a running joke about how many leaving dos I have…
