Before heading back to Athens I was up in Thessaloniki for our old school friend Jenny's wedding. I haven't been to Thessaloniki since we all met up during university years so it was lovely to reconnect and be part of her big day. It is like time never passed. The laughter still there and as silly as ever. Joyful, nostalgic, slightly surreal all at once. We danced until the early hours, had delicious food and explored the city. Great restaurants, bars and art galleries. A really good time.

Then back in Athens, Takaya came to visit which felt beautifully full circle. I had stayed with him in New York City during my Nottinghamshire Roosevelt Memorial Travelling Scholarship, so having him come and stay with me was super cool. When we were in NYC we spent a lot of time taking photographs and exploring together, so now I got to return the favour and show him one of my hometowns. We also spent a few days with my friend Zoe who has a car and drove us outside of Athens for some fun trips further afield. She is also considerably more knowledgeable about all the ancient stuff than I am so made for a much better tour guide too. My sister joined us at the end of the trip as we are off to a wedding in Cyprus next. Wedding season is very much in full swing.
