So moved down to Kent for the summer, and thanks to my cousin for dropping me at the station with all my bags ahaha.  The reason for the move is a new job with an ecological consultancy, with a focus on bat work, so should be working on some cool projects this summer! But also thought it would be a good time to connect with Dad again as he lives down in Kent, as well as getting to know his partner better. When I was younger I was super close to my Dad but all these years of living in Notts and abroad as well as me being terrible with the phone means we are not as close as we once were, so this will be a good way to reconnect.

I went to University in Kent back in 2008 to 2012, though I commuted rather than living in Kent, so it will be interesting to see what there is to do here. When I visit we often go to Whitstable with Dad and his partner as he knows I love oysters. Once I got here we made a day trip there but also went to Margate which is cool as I have never been before. We went to the Crab Museum which I highly recommend and to the Turner Museum, we also had a nice walk along the coast and a tasty crab sandwich and oysters if course!

The other cool thing being down in Kent, is it is very close to London and so I will definitely be heading there more often. I have kind of missed it over the years. Whilst I was pretty done with London when I left back in 2012, what with the Olympics and all the business there, I am now in a place where I miss it and all the cool stuff there is to do. My trip back in January kind of re ignited my love for London again…

Anyways first day of the job started off with going out to site to set out mats for a reptile survey at a site. Got off to a good start and myself and my new colleague went around with a wheelbarrow full of mats to set out so got a good workout in. Unfortunately, when we got back to the van we had a flat tyre. Bit of bad luck to start off but was more annoying for us was that we knew how to change the tyre but one of the bolts was so tightly on we could not get it off! So we had to call the AA to come to our rescue. Oh well let the adventures begin.
