I got some really cool pictures of bats in flight which I am stoked about! Just got a snippet of one of my bat pics below but will upload them to the Gallery section soon (when I figure out how to do it)… I am also really looking forward to seeing some of the ones Daniel managed to get as he knows what he is doing and in addition to bats he also did some cool astro shots. The one night we were in Kasungu the moon was a crazy red colour! After Kausngu Daniel, Bridge and Dom also went to Liwonde NP but Tom and I stayed in Lilongwe while they went there as we have a new volunteer at camp, Veronica. Though it took us ages to get back to camp. Troopy sadly had some issues and was not happy going over 20km/h! Got honked quite a few times :/

Veronica has just come from England but weren’t sure if she would be able to come over or not as the UK seems to be getting more concerned about corona virus and is talking about a lockdown, as countries in Europe are now suffering from this new virus as it spreads around the world. Dan and Bridge only arrived last week but things have changed quite quickly. We haven’t heard about it as much here in Malawi as there have been no cases and very few in Africa even. We also kinda live under a rock so don’t always know what is happening in the media. Though Dan kept us informed we updates whilst they were here, so I started to realise just how big a scale this is going.

We managed to get an extra night in of surveying in Lilongwe and managed to go down to the banana plantation looking for roosts and seeing if we could get any fruit bat photos at the banana flowers. Sadly that plan was ruined due to the rain so we ended up having some last Malawi Gins with them both back at camp and a few card games. Dan and Bridge had their flight cancelled and rescheduled / diverted back to the UK as Kenya has shut its border (which is why we got an extra night). However, this corona virus seems to be getting more serious and countries are starting to shut down their borders…
